As an ancient science Astrology has been studied and used throughout the world for thousands of years. To ancient astrologers the planets represented the will of the gods, which gave direct meanings and influences upon the times of human affairs. Today those very same themes carry influences, which are not only viable but used by present day Astrologers like myself.
As a kick off for the New Year we have the perfect planet to set the tone, Pluto. Pluto is the planet that represents transformation. It is the planet that voices, “We must die in order to be reborn.” The lessons of Pluto’s energy shatter, restructure and blaze through our lives with intense and relentless pursuit, summoning our full attention. “Holding on” and refusing “a surrender” will only intensify the wrath of Pluto’s will.
So as you continue to read through this article take a personal inventory of what hidden refuge may lie beneath the surface of your psyche. And ask yourself, “What do I need to let go of that I am afraid to?”
Pluto’s destructive nature is not without purpose. Its theme to destroy is the impetus from which its transformative qualities of creative potential are born. Pluto is an integral part of life’s creative process, and without its potency, creation could not be birthed.
Relating this to our everyday lives we can conclude that change represents growth and opportunity for greater possibilities. And that when hit with an outside force which brings us to our knees, know that this dynamic energy is Pluto’s call to us for greater promise.
Being stripped down into vulnerability is sort of a “death” to be realized as it allows control to fall into the arms of faith, and pierces the veil of our fears. For when we let die what no longer serves, we are set free.
“Tonight, Pluto, with the crescent moon as my witness, I welcome you as my lover. If you have come to break down my door, see, I have opened it, and wait here for you at its threshold. If you have come to tear off my clothes, I have flung them aside already, and stand naked, shivering gladly. If you have come to hurl me into the abyss, watch now, as I release all false supports, one by one, and fall toward you in ecstasy. Hear this, Pluto, lord of transformative fire: What you have come to take from me, I offer you.”
