We all have past hurts and situations we’d give anything to do over but we can’t do them over. What we can do is learn from them – if there’s a lesson to learn – and then toss the garbage once and for all instead of going through it.
Did you know that every time you think about a past negative (garbage) moment, you are making the neural pathway for that moment stronger? The opposite is also true. The less you think about it, the weaker the neural pathway is. This doesn’t mean that you are to pretend that those things didn’t happen. That is why so many of us are so sick.
The next time you find yourself thinking about a past garbage moment, tell yourself, “cancel that” and replace it with something more positive and uplifting to think. Perhaps you grew up being told that you were fat and ugly. Replace it with, “I’m fit and fabulous” The more you say this to yourself, the deeper the neural pathway becomes.
Your subconscious mind is always listening and believes everything it hears. It doesn’t know fact from fiction. It takes in the information, especially the information that you continually play over and over again through your mind, and creates your reality. The good news is that if you don’t like your reality, you can change it simply by thinking different thoughts.
IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE!
There is nothing that anyone says to you that matters more than what you say to yourself. This is why it’s so important to be aware of what you are saying to yourself. At first, this may be challenging because you’re basically turning a ship around and that takes time. Changing the negative to the positive can take as little as 21-days of consistent effort. You have many options…
You can write positive conditioning statements on every mirror in your home or on index cards that you keep with you and read often. You can also choose to record yourself saying a positive phrase for a full minute, then listen to it for 5 minutes frequently throughout the day. REMEMBER: While changing the negative to the positive you absolutely cannot think the negative thoughts. You are working on creating new neural pathways that carry positive information.
