Saturn (Kronos) is the planet that rules time; reality and all its duties and requirements, in this mortal incarnation we call Life. Saturn is given a bad reputation; mostly by a rebellious stance rejecting hard work, dedication, effort, sacrifice and an “All In” commitment that is necessary to build character, authentic success, self-discipline and Mastery. Ultimately, Saturn is the Gate Keeper, the threshold between restricted (fated) and un-restricted (creative) consciousness and the ability to manifest one’s destiny.
In the solar system, Saturn is the bridge between the personal planets (the personality and the ego’s image) and the outer planets (higher states of consciousness and selflessness). Initially, we experience Saturn archetypically as the Task Master, Father Time, Karma and Fate. Life seems harsh by Saturn’s standards; tradition, structure, focus, caution, fear, doubt, rules, limitations/delays, conservation and constrictions demand patience and serious consideration. Rewards are slow in coming as we manage personal and worldly obligations and responsibilities that seem insurmountable.
Saturn’s grail is to maintain self-preservation (ego) and form (body). This containment of the self (This is who I am) as defined by the unconscious ego-personality eventually must be dismantled and re-structured. As we heroically walk the road toward self-actualization, we begin to ask the questions that derail a fated existence. Who am I? Where am I going? What is my purpose? Inquiry is the first step out of the box, the perpetual state of being/feeling stuck and at the effect of life, without the inner confidence to change or develop.
When we begin to shoulder life’s burdens with renewed intention and diligence in this new reality, we symbolically become the Architect of our domain (constant re-development of the Self). Authority now resides within us as we no longer collapse (victimize ourselves) under the weight of responsibility (the ability to respond) and begin to mature into a Master Builder, unafraid to meet life head on. We purposefully challenge our immature dependencies and see clearly that true power is not outside of our Self. No longer do we deny our strengths but instead embrace our innate wisdom (eternal Spirit), and willingly endure the struggle of growth that leads to fruition.
