Candida, also known as (fungus or yeast) is no match for even minimal amounts of essential oils.
“Minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of Lemon balm [otherwise known as Melissa], Citronella, Geranium and Clove oils were established as 0.097% (v/v).” (1)
It has been shown that tested oils, used even at very minimal amounts exhibit significant activity reducing the presence/quantity of important C. albicans (disease causing) virulence factors.
Essential oils protect us from fungus! To name a few:
Oregano(1a), Thyme(1a), Lemon oil(1b), Lemongrass(1c), Lavender(1d), Coriander(1e), Clary Sage(1f), Juniper(1f), Marjoram(1f), Rosemary(1g), Peppermint(1h), Basil(1h), Pine(1i), Melaleuca(1j), Fennel(1k), Chamomile(1l), Cinnamon(1m), Tangerine(1m), Bay Laurel(1m), Eucalyptus(1m), Myrrh(1m), Patchouli(1n), Palmarosa(1n), Citronella(1n), Geranium(1n), Orange(1n)
“Candida is a genus of yeasts and is currently the most common cause of fungal infections worldwide. When mucosal barriers are disrupted or the immune system is compromised they can invade and cause disease.” (2)
Byron J. Richards, a Board Certified Clinical Nutritionist says:
“A study shows that digestive distress can trigger a chain of events that leads directly to thyroid damage. It has been observed that individuals with celiac disease (gluten intolerance) also have thyroid problems.
Scientists tracked down the link by establishing that autoimmune antibodies against transglutaminase (a celiac problem) latch on to thyroid tissue and rev up thyroid autoantibodies (TPO – antithyroperoxidase antibodies), leading to thyroid tissue damage1.
This is the first time a clear chain of events has been specifically identified. This very important finding extends far beyond celiac, as transglutaminase is also formed from an overgrowth of candida.
During candida overgrowth the candida induces inflammatory tissue damage along the lining of your digestive tract, like weeds spreading in a lawn and disturbing the structure of the lawn. The candida takes dead digestive tract cells and makes a hard goop, like a turtle shell over the outside of itself.
It then attaches this shell to the walls of your digestive tract with little scab-like threads called transglutaminase, while it hides underneath the shell to escape your immune system.
When gluten passes through the transglutaminase it causes a highly inflammatory reaction, which eventually generates celiac-like autoantibodies.
This is true whether you have clear-cut celiac or not. In fact, candida can cause celiac by this mechanism. In working with thousands of people who have candida over the years, it is clear that a high percentage of them have thyroid problems and elevated thyroid autoantibodies.
This is a lesson for anyone; balance your digestive tract or run the risk of autoimmune-driven wear and tear to your thyroid gland. The precise mechanism is now understood. It also means that by clearing out a candida problem thyroid function will improve.” (3)
Using our anti-fungal Essential Oils and balancing our digestive tract with minimal sugar intake (fungus thrives on sugar), not eating grains, dairy or processed foods is optimal for healthy digestion, thyroid and longevity along with lots of immune stimulating greens and veggies.
Great information shedding new light on fungus/Candida being the main cause of celiac and thyroid disease.
