I invite you to take a journey with me on a 6 part series entitled “Did You Know?”
Did you know there are toxins in the products we use in our home, on our bodies and in the food we eat?
Every day I wash, bathe, brush my teeth, eat, drink and clean my house with products that can cause major damage to my health. How is that possible you ask? I ask myself the same question. I thought the FDA, the Food and Drug Administration was there to protect me and let me know if products carry harmful ingredients so I can make a wise decision. But did you know that there are 3,000 chemicals in cosmetics and cosmetologist were complaining of headaches, memory lost, asthma and respiratory damage. The National Institute of Occupational Safety studied 2,983 of those chemical ingredients in cosmetics and found 884 to be toxic! Of the 884 toxic ingredients, biological mutations could be caused by 314, reproductive problems by 218, acute toxicity by 778, cancer tumors by 146 and skin and eye irritation by 376.
I found through documented research that other substances in our everyday products also contain toxins from surprising sources. I was really turned off when I heard that many lubricants, cosmetics and soaps are made with animal renderings. When an animal dies it is sent to a rendering plant to be disposed of. There, the animal parts are dumped in a huge grinder, mixed together and steam cooked. Then the fatty substance that’s floats to the top is scraped off and used to make these common household products…disgusted? Well I am too. As I continued my research of other toxins in our products, I found out that a product like soap you find on the shelf at your grocery store not only contain the fatty substance from the animal renderings but also has the carcergenic toxin Titanium Dioxide. This chemical comes from the metal family and is a pigment that makes things white. So you find it not only in your white soaps but in tooth paste, milk, lotions, food coloring, sunscreen, and paint. What? Yes. It is used in 70% of our products, but you probably did not know that Titanium dioxide dust when inhaled is carcinogenic to humans. This is stated from the International Agency for Research on Cancer.
Oh yeah, there is one more toxin I thought you should know about. Did you know that Mineral Oil is a common ingredient in our skin care and personal hygiene products. You’ll also find it in most baby products. Mineral oil is toxic to the human body. It is the same substance that kills marine life after an oil spill in the ocean. It is non-renewable crude oil and blocks all nutrients that might be in a product. The oil is hydrogenated which acts like a plastic in and on the human skin. The plastic coating keeps the skin from effectively eliminating toxins and regulating temperature. The side effects of constant use are fatigue, memory loss, personality changes, headaches, sleep disturbances and sexual dysfunction. Even worse, many of the same oils that cause theses symptoms are also known to cause cancer.
Now that you are totally surprised, disgusted and overwhelmed with this information, what can you do about it? I asked myself the same question. There are three action steps you can take to start the wheels of change moving:
- Do what I am doing right know; pass the information along, let others know about this.
- Stop using the products that carry these toxins. Find natural alternatives’ to use in its place.
- Find natural immune builders such as therapeutic essential oils.
Using therapeutic essential oils cleans your cell receptors, keeping them strong and healthy to fight toxins that invade our bodies every day. Using the oils helps to build and keep our immune system strong and healthy. If we focus on that then all the toxins in our air, food and skin products can be prevented from breaking down our immune system and as you know, a weakened immune system invites cancer growth into our body.
So remember to always read the label to see what you are putting in your body. Always work on keeping a strong immune system by keeping in good cheer and reducing toxins in your life. If you would like a list of what to look for on product packaging to better help you choose, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I will be happy to send it to you.
