Happy New Year! Twelve new months to frame new goals, new challenges, and new successes. January is a very important month. It’s the first impression of your year; but even more than that, it’s the first opportunity for you to make choices about how you will respond to whatever this year will bring. Every year brings good, bad, and everything in between. It’s up to you to choose the type of energy you will bring to each day, and how much energy you will focus on each situation that comes your way.
It can be tempting to speak in hyperbole and say, “It’s one of those days/months/years,” or any other negatively charged way of describing a period of time. But our words and thoughts take up real estate within our being. Thus, it is important to focus our energy on finding the most constructive path, and always be looking for the path that provides the most healing, most love, and most kindness. Why fill up the space in your mind and body with negative words and thoughts? It all starts with the way we describe our experiences, both as we speak them and as we think them.
Start this year with an exercise of reflection on the last year. Identify any challenges, victories, and unfinished tasks. Then move on by addressing your goals, including any follow up from the previous year. If there is unfinished business in your life, consider whether it is time to re-evaluate your strategy, and perhaps engage new support, and/or develop different skills.
This is your year to learn more about your role in this life and this world. Seek health, crave wellness, meditate on love, and practice radiating it all from your being. You are a vital piece of your community, and each day is an opportunity to affect the world around you in a positive way. Embrace your power and let your light shine!
